Tofino

For Christmas Chris and I were treated to a really, really lovely getaway that we chose to take the weekend of our wedding anniversary, February 22nd. The trip was two nights in Tofino in a room that looked out onto this beautiful scene...

How about an aerial view... this was taken atop the huge rocks jutting out from the sand, it's where the winding boardwalk ends.

I set out for the hike wearing an oversized sweater underneath my snowboarding jacket, my neck wraped in an enormous scarf, with thick woolly socks inside my gumboots only to find the weather unseasonably warm (Tofino has a reputation for being chilly, grey, and overcast even during the summer).

We surfed our butts off, I'm so sore even my armpits hurt.

...and I even found a quiet moment in the late afternoon to knit in the sun.

I am so very thankful that we were able to take such a lovely trip, thank you so much to the enablers, you know who you are.

Christopher

I rarely knit for Christopher because just like me he is very picky and won't wear just anything so I am very selective about what I knit for him. This toque was inspired by his favorite hat which is oatmeal in colour and double layered for warmth and comfort. Because it's his absolute favorite I wanted to make a hat that was similar but different so I decided to make the lining in a striped pattern so that this hat could be reversible. Chris loves it and actually favours the stripes. A quick thank you to Shannon for inspiring me to design a decent hat for the fellas.

Happy Birthday Elsie!

My beautiful baby girl turned two today. My Mum made a yummy heart shaped cake for her and my husbands parents came all the way from Chilliwack to celebrate with us. Her Grandma bought her a tea set and we spent a good part of the day pouring imaginary cups of tea and eating fake toast, two is such a fun age and it's only the beginning.

She loved when we sang Happy Birthday to her and blowing out the candles couldn't have been more exciting. It took her a handful of tries with a laughing fit in the middle when one candle decided to relight, it was a riot!

What a truly wonderful day.

Random Pic of the Day...

I think the main reason I have trouble blogging regularly is because I put so much pressure on myself when I write, it just has to be perfect...

I tend to forget that the blog began because I finally purchased a digital SLR and my habit of snapping a ton of photos at random multiplied considerably... I really needed something to do with them and a blog seemed to give them purpose.

In order to stay true to my original intentions I believe a random photo in lieu of a post is better than no post at all...

This is Manni. My daughter takes him everywhere... they eat together, sleep together, drink milk together. She likes to bite on his nose when she is nervous or excited, that's when I tell her "No biting Elsie, just kisses". The only time he leaves her side is when he's taking a bath.
